Richard J. Parsons

Richard Parsons has over 30 years of healthcare industry experience while serving in a variety of technical, management and consulting positions. He is a two time hospital CEO (interim assignments), co-founder of Berkeley HeartLab, Inc., a company that provides cardiovascular disease management using proprietary lipid testing technology; and co-founder of Performance Healthcare, Inc. (PHI) a firm specializing in programs to better organize, manage and operate hospitals and other healthcare facilities. In January 2003, Mr. Parsons merged PHI with HFS Consultants to create a healthcare business services firm with unmatched experience and expertise.

Mr. Parsons typically consults as a business advisor to financially troubled healthcare organizations. His participation in fourteen hospital turnarounds gives him a unique perspective on the critical factors required for an economic recovery. He recently completed a one year engagement as business "coach" to the CEO of one of the largest hospitals in California.

Mr. Parsons has served as guest lecturer for the University of San Francisco Graduate School for Professional Studies, San Francisco State University Center for Biomedical Laboratory Science and other forums. He has served as a facilitator for hospitals seeking to reduce operating costs while maintaining or improving the quality of patient care. His articles on management related issues have appeared in "Strategies for Healthcare Excellence".

Mr. Parsons received his B.S. in Medical Technology from Kent State University and a Masters of Clinical Science from San Francisco State University. He maintains an office at the HFS headquarters in Oakland, California.
