John Pfeiffer has worked in health care reimbursement and finance since 1985, with specific expertise in Medicare and Medicaid, operations, and budgeting and forecasting. His extensive experience encompasses all types of providers, from university teaching hospitals to distinct-part nursing facilities, rural hospitals and rural health clinics.

Mr. Pfeiffer has prepared and reviewed Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for hospitals, nursing homes and other providers and represented them in intermediary audits and appeals. In addition, he has developed pro-forma cost reports to set reimbursement rates and analyze programmatic changes.

Prior to becoming one of HFS' charter employees in 1991, Mr. Pfeiffer was on the health care consulting staff of a major nationwide accounting firm, where he provided consulting, technical and software product support to a wide range of health care clients. The health care software applications he developed, supported and marketed include Medicare cost reporting, third-party patient logging, cost accounting, rate optimization and budgeting.

Mr. Pfeiffer has led seminars sponsored by the California Healthcare Association, California Association of Health Facilities and Healthcare Financial Management Association, as well as for individual clients.

Mr. Pfeiffer received a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Spring Garden College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has completed graduate-level coursework toward an MBA.
